LRC Network Web Site

Since 1995 AIHA established more than 150 LRCs in 22 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Former Soviet Union, and 3 LRCs in Africa (Uganda and Zambia). Currently AIHA supports 3 centers in Africa and 9 in Russia. Several similar centers in the countries of the FSU were opened without any financial support from AIHA. LRC Network of graduated LRCs includes 60 participants from 19 countries (list of all members at http://lrcnetwork.org/en/views/lrcnml). LRC mailing list (lrcnetwork@googlegroups.com) includes 350 subscribers. 20 respondents from 12 countries participated in this survey.

The International Journal of Medical Practice (Международный журнал медицинской практики) has been the first Russia's journal giving a EBP-based account of the latest achievements in the world's medical science. The journal was published in 1996 through 2002. Since its revival in 2005, the IJMP has been also focused on various aspects of the modern research methodology in medicine. AIHA will provide most active members of the LRC Network with a CD containing the full IJMP archive for 1996 through 2005. Dear members of the LRC Network,
From September 4 through 8, 2006, AIHA will conduct in St. Petersburg, Russia, a training workshop for AIHA's HIV/AIDS projects in Russia. AIHA has announced a contest for LRC Network members to participate in this workshop as a trainer on the following topics:

• Evidence-based practice (EBP) and searching for medical information (two positions)
• Telemedicine (one position)
• Information technologies (one position).

More detailed information on the training can be found in the application form. Applicants should submit their forms (including a curriculum of training on suggested topics) by e-mail to Mark Story, Irina Shumilova, and Victor Stanilevskiy before the deadline of August 7, 2006.
